Big Lonely and Beyond
"For many years now I've been painting my life.
To do so, I strive to incorporate as much colour as possible, both in my life and in my work."
Michael Everett Glover, 2006
This continuing series of paintings and sketches is a direct result and manifestation of my travels throughout Canada in the past several years.
My subject matter consists of images relating to the rougher side of our country and particularly focuses on ways of life which are gradually disappearing from the Canadian landscape.
My travels have taken me from the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador,
to the western shore of Vancouver Island and north to the James Bay frontier, as well as the Yukon and North West Territories,
seeking out and capturing on canvas and paper the inspiration for this extensive body of work.
